JOMO or FOMO?

Just a few days ago I heard abut JOMO and immediately I was intrigued by this concept that is the complete opposite of the very popular FOMO phenomenon. After pondering the concept of JOMO I realized that this is a concept that I can really embrace, particularly as I am focused these days on various projects. It’s definitely an approach that I am excited about: JOMO!

JOMO is the acronym for the Joy of Missing Out, or enjoying what you're doing in each moment without worrying about what other people are doing. JOMO is a sociological phenomenon as a response to FOMO, or the Fear of Missing Out, the fear of missing something important that is happening or not being one of the cool people.

By practicing JOMO, I can really embrace finding joy in what I AM doing rather than what I am NOT doing (even if lots of other people are doing it).

Over the years, especially with the rise of social media, I have found myself caught up in FOMO more often than I can count. It has been frustrating and challenging to extricate myself from FOMO on tons of occasions. So, now that I have found out about JOMO, I’m super excited to dwell in JOMO instead!

JOMO gives me the space and the “permission” to dive deeper into my passions of wellness lifestyle coaching based on a healthy plant-based vegan diet and a lifestyle that benefits from the seven lifestyle pillars. JOMO also gives me the space and “permission” for traveling, leading retreats, guiding meditations, reading, relationships, exercising, creating new projects, and so much more! Hooray!

So, is it JOMO? Or, FOMO for you?
