Why Aren’t You Plant-Based Or Vegan Yet?


Recently, I have been wondering why so many people are still not plant-based or vegan yet? 

I mean, of course, I understand (and I can relate to) some of the reasons. However, I’m really wondering if there are other reasons why people are still on the standard animal-based diet despite all of the suffering that this diet inflicts upon humans, animals and planet Earth.

Here are some of the main reasons that I have observed, and/or experienced personally, regarding why some people are not plant-based or vegan yet:

  1. You don’t know what plant-based means?

  2. You don’t know what vegan means?

  3. You don’t know what the difference is between plant-based and vegan?

  4. You don’t know if going plant-based is healthy?

  5. You don’t know if it’s a good idea to go vegan?

  6. You think that the vegetarian diet is healthy?

  7. You think that the pescatarian diet is healthy?

  8. You don’t know which ingredients are in plant-based foods?

  9. You don’t know how to find plant-based and vegan restaurant options?

  10. You don’t know how to be vegan at work?

  11. You don’t know how to be vegan in a non-vegan family?

  12. You don’t know how to be vegan with a non-vegan significant other?

  13. You don’t know how to be vegan with non-vegan friends?

  14. You think that the standard animal-based diet is healthier?

  15. You think that the standard animal-based diet is tastier?

  16. You think that the standard animal-based diet is cheaper?

  17. You think that your family and friends will not support you and still love you if you switch to plant-based or vegan?

  18. You don’t know how to host a plant-based or vegan gathering?

  19. You want to fit in with the rest of the crowd eating animal-based?

  20. You are afraid of trying the plant-based diet and the vegan lifestyle because they are “unknown”, “foreign” and “new” to you?

  21. You heard that someone went plant-based or vegan and then returned to the standard animal-based diet for some reason?

  22. You don’t know any plant-based or vegan people?

  23. You only know how to cook the standard animal-based diet and you don’t know which ingredients to use to make a plant-based meal?

  24. You don’t like certain plant-based ingredients?

  25. You think that there is not enough protein on a plant-based and vegan diet?

  26. You don’t know the nutrition facts for how to eat a healthy plant-based and vegan diet?

  27. You don’t know the science behind being plant-based and vegan?

  28. You don’t know how to find a plant-based health care professional?

  29. You are afraid you will lose muscle eating plant-based or vegan?

  30. You don’t care about your health and wellness?

  31. You don’t know what happens to animals in the animal agriculture industry?

  32. You have not seen documentaries like Earthlings or Dominion?

  33. You don’t care about animals?

  34. You think that animals were created to be eaten by humans?

  35. You think that animals do not have feelings, emotions, and sentience?

  36. You think that plants have feelings, emotions, and sentience?

  37. You don’t care about planet Earth?

  38. You think that planet Earth is fine just as it is now?

  39. You don’t know how to get started on your plant-based or vegan journey?

  40. You believe some of the vegan misconceptions and myths?

  41. You don’t have a plant-based or vegan coach?

  42. Or, are there other reasons why you are not plant-based or vegan yet?
